Summer holidays have just begun, and the stress of the coming school year is already settling in. Internships, reading assignments, subject decisions overpower the light, fun energy holidays have. Next year I will be in grade 11, my first year in the IB Diploma Program (the IB DP), which
I’ve been told is a huge deal. This year I will be starting my journey to university, medical school for me specifically.
To aid my transition from high school student to medical student, I have created this blog to tackle aspects I struggle in. My goal for this blog is to improve my communication skills. If you have attended an IB school, you know that setting a main goal or having an inquiry question is the first to achieve the goal. A sub-goal is to advance my knowledge of the medical field that I’m passionate about in an effort to be better prepared for university applications. To build on communication skills I will use this blog to:
· Write/draft essays using prompts from competitions and online resources (within this I will be able to practice making citations in appropriate formats)
· Discuss books and articles I read on healthcare, science or world news
· Publish posts on topics I’m interested in
· Reflect on college advisory sessions and summarize my learning
This blog was created to document my improvement which I will be monitoring by requesting criticism from peers and mentors. I know that through these tasks passion for medicine and interest in science will continue to grow.
